Personal Budgets

When an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is drafted for a child or young person it is possible for a parent or carer to ask for a Personal Budget.  This budget would support the delivery of the special educational provision set out in the EHCP.

If a child or young person is known to social care (usually the Children with Disabilities Service - CWD) they may be able again to apply for a Personal Budget.  Attached is a clear guide from the charity KIDS about Personal Budgets, how and why to apply and their purpose etc.

Please be aware that these budgets are very different even though their name is the same.
